Tents4Trees helps to plant trees and restore landscapes

Tents4Trees has planted more than 152.000 trees - many together with Eden Reforestation Project

Every time an order is completed in our e-shop, the counter turns a notch, and yet another tree is being planted. So far, Tents4Trees has planted more than 152.000 trees – in Zambia, Myanmar, and Madagascar. In the last year or so, our focus has been on Madagascar, a unique place where almost all the primary forests have been cut down. A shocking 10% is all that remains! This depressing fact significantly impacts the wildlife, where 75% of species are unique to Madagascar. Together with Eden Reforestation Projects, we try to make a difference in this fantastic island country, the second-largest island country and the 44th-largest country in the world.

Tents4Trees in cooperation with Eden Reforestation Projects

Tents4Trees are proud to be part of the many people and companies supporting Eden Restoration Projects and their outstanding work in Madagascar and ten other countries. Eden is a non-profit NGO that has planted nearly a million trees daily for years! This year, they are transitioning to a more holistic program they call Landscape Restoration. This concept goes beyond planting trees and underscores Eden’s ongoing commitment to the well-being of ecosystems and the communities that rely on them. Landscape Restoration is a comprehensive, standards-based approach to restoration and conservation that generates environmental, socioeconomic, and biodiversity benefits for the well-being of communities and the planet. It is an excellent feeling that Dancover and Tents4Trees can be a part of this by sending money to Eden every time an order is completed in our e-shop.

Dancover has helped Eden plant thousands of mangrove trees

Right now, we are helping the Eden Reforestation Project to plant mangroves because the destruction of the mangrove estuaries along the coastline of Madagascar has caused mudflats to wash into the ocean. This process destroys once-productive fisheries and puts coastal communities in increased danger of hurricanes, tsunamis, and floods. Eden has been working here since 2007, and huge improvements have already been seen – but much work still needs to be done. This is where Dancover and Tents4Trees can do their bit.

Mangrove trees can store large amounts of CO2

Eden is planting mangroves because the trees naturally belong to the area. The unique trees protect coastlines from erosion and protect lives and properties from extreme weather. The beautiful coastal forests in Madagascar serve as nurseries for fish and supply food for local communities. As a huge bonus, the mangroves are incredibly good at storing carbon. The beautiful trees store up to four times as much carbon as other tropical forests, including rainforests! Two mangrove trees sequester up to 1 ton of CO2 when fully grown. Every time a customer completes an order at dancovershop.com, a tree is planted in Madagascar, and the customer receives a personal certificate.
