Classic wooden pergola made of glue-laminated spruce

Wooden pergolas for a great room in the garden

A classic wooden pergola makes a beautiful room in your garden – or somewhere else, for that matter. You can place the wooden pergola on the patio or create a ‘secret’ room away from the house. Put some comfortable lounge furniture inside the pergola or maybe a dining table. We have launched a series of elegant wooden pergolas made of solid and durable glue-laminated spruce. Choose from various models in different sizes. They are all made of natural glue-laminated spruce, which is solid and durable, but we still recommend that you treat the pergola when you have assembled it. Painting the pergola with wood protection ensures the wooden structure can withstand the elements for a long time. As with all kinds of wooden structures, you may have to refresh the paint occasionally to make the wood last even longer.

A wooden pergola as an easy DIY project

When you order one of our elegant wooden pergolas, we deliver it as an easy DIY project. The solid and durable wooden pergola is made in the EU and is easy to assemble by using the self-tapping screws that come with the prefabricated assembly set. Place the pergola on flagstones or post bases. Please note that post bases or other anchoring is NOT enclosed! However, finding post bases online or at your local builder’s market is easy. When you have set up the pergola, you can look forward to an incredible room on the patio or garden. You can go with the simple and minimalistic look of a freestanding pergola – or place the pergola up against a hedge, fence, or garden wall and make a more secluded pergola. Finally, you can plant various climber plants around the pergola, so the plants can decorate the structure. Use elegant flowerpots or have the plants directly in the ground if possible. Plants like clematis, honeysuckle, or climbing rose will look fabulous, covering parts of the pergola.

Make your wooden pergola into an interim gazebo

The open wooden pergola may create an incredible room in the garden, but what to do if it starts to rain – or you want some shade on a sunny day? Lucky for you, it is easy to cover your wooden pergola with a large tarp or sun sail. You can have tarps and sun sails in different colours. If you use a dark tarp, the sun and most light will be shut out. You will enjoy the shade with a light sun sail, but it may not hold back the rain. So why not order one of each when you are at it? No matter what you choose, you must ensure that the fabric over the pergola is fastened securely.

Another thing to be aware of is that water must not pool on top of a tarp when it is over the pergola, as the weight of the water can damage the construction. Please note that covering your wooden pergola is only a temporary solution, and take it down when it is not in use to avoid accidents.
