Bridge in ice project also needs a storage shelter

Storage shelter in the winter

Bridge in ice is an extremely fascinating project taking place in the deep cold of Finland this winter. A group of students from Eindhoven University of Technology and others are building a bridge from 1502 by Leonardo Da Vinci – in ice! It is the famous Renaissance man Leonardo Da Vinci, who created the drawings for this magnificent bridge back in 1502 for the Sultan of Istanbul. At that time, the bridge had the longest span for a bridge ever – an astonishing 240 meters. This winter a group of students brave the cold of Finland to construct the bridge in ice together with other constructions in this unusual building material! The project takes place in Juuka in North Karelia in Finland where the temperature sometimes drop to impressive – 30⁰C. The same group of students have prior used ice for building the largest ice dome in the world and a replica of La Familia Segrada – the famous church in Barcelona designed by Gaudí.
